Renewal - the documentary

I saw RENEWAL tonight on PBS, the first feature length documentary to capture America's religious environmental movement. It is a must see. Educational and inspiring! I found the site for the Renewal Project, joined their ning site and found an excellent trailer on the Transition California ning site:

I believe there's hope!

Universal Health Care Changes Everything

I could blog on.. but would rather share some of this article with you. Just the title of it inspired me.

http://kendallian.blogspot.com/2008/11/how-universal-health-care-changes.html

By Sara Robinson

With one fell stroke, giving Americans universal access to health care will undermine some of the deepest and most persistent myths of the conservative worldview.

We've worked hard to build a progressive political juggernaut that will, God willing and the creek don't… Continue

SPECIAL ALERT - Health Care Reform Under Sneak Attack

Health Care Reform Under Sneak Attack

At the 7/6/09 meeting of the WPGN (Whatcom Progressive Grassroots Network) Larry Kalb, Senior Policy Analyst on Healthcare for the Northwest Progressive Institute, reported that conservative elements within the Democratic Party (the DLC = the Democratic Leadership Council) have been seeking since 5/1/09 to co-opt the term “Public Option” by using it to describe their “reform” plan to give the public only one “option” – to choose which private… Continue

Commonalities of Intolerance - The left & right should work together for truth & justice

My Father-in-Law is getting mad and I think that’s good. Like most citizens in our country today, there are many issues that are approaching intolerable.  One of the intolerable issues we share is the rapid transfer of wealth out of the middle class.  I find this very comforting in a strange way because my father-in-law and I never used to agree on anything political: he being a strong conservative and me being a strong progressive. Just a couple of years ago I couldn’t identify any political…See More

Dianne Foster replied to Lindsay MacDonald's discussion 'Analysis of HC reform proposals'
Thanks for that input, Korry - I am a fan of Michael Pollen, and I hope he's right, but I also fear that it could end up being another massive public bailout of private corporations. On another topic, maybe we could buy group tickets to see…

Korry replied to Lindsay MacDonald's discussion 'Analysis of HC reform proposals'
The "Insurance" vs "Health Care" is interesting. I have been reading a little bit recently about Michael Pollan's claim (author of The Omnivore's Dilemma) that once "health care reform" is passed, the…

A world day of climate action - October 24, 2009

Thanks to Bill McKibbenOrganizing for Oct 24th - world day of climate action - Bill McKibbenDear Friends,I'm back home with my family for a few days, after the third long organizing trip of the past few months. In a way, this trip was the most extraordinary, because it took me to places where you wouldn't necessarily expect climate organizing to be going full force. But it is--people everywhere are figuring out that 350 is the most important number on earth, that October 24 is going to be the…See More
